It’s been a long 2 months now that we’ve been looking for a house. We had a realtor friend of ours set us up on a Georgia realtor board, so that we got up to the minute listing of any new houses.
Last Thursday night my wife and mother-in-law were driving past a house my mother-in-law had grown up in…and it had a for sale sign in the yard. Just 1 week prior, my wife had told me she wanted to buy that house and wished it would come on the market. So, we immediately called the realtor and setup a time that night to go look at it. We checked everything out and loved the house. The only problem was that I was looking for something around $85,000 and this house was $109,900. Friday morning I called my loan originator and she ran the numbers and assured me we could make the payment. So we took the realtor to lunch Friday afternoon and signed a contract offering them their asking price with them paying 3% toward closing. Monday we signed all the mortgage papers and made it official. At 2 pm today we’re scheduled to have a full home inspection. As long as nothing major is found today, we will sign all the final papers July 31st and the house with be officially ours.
